Healthcare for the homeless (HCH) was established in Baltimore in 1985 and is a nationally-recognized model for the delivery of care to underserved populations. They were seeking a redesign of their current site to match their refreshed brand. The challenge was to make the interface relative and easily navigable to the various audiences that were coming to this site. I wanted to add in additional design elements that had an underlining meaning to HCH and what they stood for. One of the many wonderful things HCH did for their clients is an Art Expressions Group. Twice a week they had clients come together and make art, talk about the important role art plays in their lives on their path to health. I used their actual artwork throughout the site as texture or additional pops of color. I also chose to use light, rounded icons to give a warm welcoming feel. Right off the bat, the user is able to clearly take the path they need to; whether you are seeking help, want to get involved, or just want to gain knowledge on homelessness.
